Roof work & working at height
Solar and rooftop work need a plan for safe access, fall prevention and the conditions on the day.
We assess roof edges, fragile surfaces, skylights, weather and the area below before starting work. We plan access and fall protection around the specific roof and task.
Where practicable, we avoid working at height. Where roof access is needed, we prioritise protection such as scaffolding or guardrails, selected and installed for the job.
When restraint or fall-arrest systems are required, appropriate equipment, training and rescue arrangements form part of the plan. These systems are selected through the site risk assessment.
We pause work if conditions or controls make it unsafe to continue.
Our apprentices
Our apprentices receive supervision from a licensed electrician appropriate to their experience, the task and its risks.
We explain the work, check understanding and encourage questions. Apprentices are supported to pause and seek help whenever they are unsure or identify a safety concern.
We follow Energy Safe Victoria’s requirements for effective apprentice supervision.
On every job
We assess the site and task, identify hazards and agree on the controls needed before starting. For high-risk construction work, we prepare and follow a site-specific Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS). When conditions change, we stop and review the plan.
We plan electrical isolation, use procedures to prevent unexpected re-energisation and confirm equipment is de-energised before work begins. Testing and verification form part of completing the installation.
Our team uses task-appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and checks the equipment needed for the job. Training, clear responsibilities and emergency arrangements support the controls on site.
We discuss site access and planned power interruptions, control the work area and explain how household members can stay clear while work is underway. That includes considering children, pets and anyone working nearby.
